A truck-sized asteroid named Asteroid 2023 BU had a near miss with planet Earth, passing at a very close distance of about 2,200 miles (3,600 kilometers) on January 27, 2023. This is about 1 percent the distance between Earth and our Moon and closer than many artificial satellites that orbit Earth. This makes it the fourth closest pass by an asteroid.
