The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) has been scanning the cosmos for signs of intelligent life for over 50 years. However, the portion of the universe we’ve surveyed is incredibly small compared to its vastness. To put it in perspective, our exploration is equivalent to a mere 12 oz glass of water in all the Earth’s oceans combined. This limited sample size doesn’t indicate the absence of extraterrestrial intelligence, just as finding no fish in that glass of water doesn’t mean there are no fish in the entire ocean.
