Storm after Storm, California has been hit hard. We’ve had so much rain and snowfall that our reservoirs went from 33% to 100% as of mid January. At the beginning of this month, we traveled to Mammoth Mountain for snowboarding and snow camping. There’s been so much snow that season totals have already surpassed the previous season.
In this episode, I put my light duty snow chains to the test! They’ll be wrapping my 255/70R18 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws! This video shows empirical evidence that snow chains are actually very effective in deep snow. Thanks to the community for all the informative comments on my two previous videos. One comment that stood out was by Aaron Barker. He points out that metal effectively sticks to snow and ice where as rubber heats up the snow and creates a skating rink effect. I observed this to be true! The chains were very very sticky, atleast in California snow (powder, sleet, and hard packed).
